Often a simple off white matting works well. Some times if there is a lot of light colours in the print, an under mat is required to provide more of a visual border.

Posters are glued. Creases and folds are minimised in a vaccuum press.
Most posters don’t need a mat.

Photo's Most B &W photos need a white or off white matting board, coloured photos use mainly off white. Often a coloured under mat brings out elements of the photo. Photos need matting board to separate from sticking to the glass.
